Blog 2.5

Its crazy to think there is less than 90 days left of our senior years, and that means less than 90 days to think up creative genius hour starts to my blogs. It brings tears to my eyes to write this ( I was yawning as I was writing this...). Genius hour has taught me so many important lessons like dont procastoinate till the night something is due (which I am doing currently in this very blog). Now that ive quit yawning, I can stop crying and being all emotional then actually tell all yall what "amazing" thing im up to this week with my project.
These last two weeks weren't as productive as I would have liked to say the least. Although I can say I did some self reflection and had the chance after cleaning out one of my folders from sesmister to look at the handwriting on some of my schoolwork. It was pretty painful to look at. Now when I write and actally put some effort into it isn't all that bad. What I did manage to do was focusing all the time on trying to have better handwriting. I had this moment of pure joy this week when Kelly Rehm told me my handwriting looked good, but when I realized what she was looking at, it was my typed science writeup. It is moments like these that movtivate me to better try to really slow down, focus, and write beautifuly. Alot of you may be thinking im just filling pages with words, and yes I am filling pages with words, but they are important words, neccassry to the story of how I get great handwriting. These last two weeks I did a little bit with writing, not with the calligraphy pen but with a pencil and just trying to do my schoolwork beautifully.
I want to thank all you guys for being wonderful role models for me to look up as we race towards the finsh line of our highschool experience.

blog 2.4 Alex Steven Podcast

Hello fellow classmates, sorry to disappoint you, but this week I did a podcast with Alex. If you want to hear what "amazing things" were discussed then you will have to listen to this podcast. It is only  13 1/2 minutes long and if you can't spend that much of your time on something this amazing then please let me know what amazing memes you've found, Netflix show, maybe you even are trying to come up with the cure to cancer and if you are then I congratulate you. It is people who apsire to reach above the rest, to reach beyond themselves, that inspire me. That is why i'm thankful to have someone like Alex to look up to.

Alex Steven Podcast- (we made a rushed mumble rap song together in case that tempts you a little more to listen to this.)

Blog 2.3

This was a good week guys. I accomplished what I set out to do last week which was to finish the practice sheets and the alphabet. I even got to talk to Mrs.Sutter and talked about how I can improve upon my work. She taught me that you actually can do calligraphy in more than just one motion, you can have multiple strokes which after practicing found to be better. I also learned it was easier to draw with the pen if you hold it at an angle to the paper rather than just straight up and down. Now that I am done with the alphabet I plan on trying out some different styles of font and using pencils, and other writing utensils to write with.

If you guys didn't already know, next week, Alex and I will be doing a duo podcast. I don't know yet what I will be talking about, but since Alex is already such a good talker I will probably let him do most of it. Maybe a few "what do you think about this Alex?" type of questions, comments so as to spice up the podcast a little bit. Regarding last weeks failed picture attempt, I really don't know why they aren't showing up anymore. I'm actually pretty sad about it and may have to ask some computer genius (Brandon) how to fix that problem. This blog wasn't very long but instead of writing a super long boring blog that no one will care about, I plan on preparing for a super cool podcast with Alex that everyone in the world will want to listen to.

Blog 2.2

Last blog was kind of cheesy and for any for you lactose intolerant people out there it might have not been the most pleasant experience. For this blog I promise to limit the amount of cheese unless you count of course the countless photos, camera flashes, and the "1,2,3 cheese" that will probably occur after all y'all hear my little preview to my Calligraphy Rap song. This blog of course isn't supposed to be about the promotion of my mixtape, but since I'm finding ways to incorporate my last project with this project seemed like a fun thing to do.

This week my project went quite well at least in my book. After seeing my the practice work I had been working on he suggested I write an entire book like those medieval monks used to by using ink, a calligraphy pen, and their beautiful font style. I'm not bald yet so I won't be devoting the countless hours work such a task would require (sorry Brandon). Anyhow, this week I got work on a lot more practice sheets and even did some in pencil. I also went to Mrs. Sutter and got some better ink and a better calligraphy pen which is the difference between having a bad relationship compared to a good one. The old pen constantly needed to be redipped in the ink, and most of the time I had to press really hard to get the pen to do anything. It was a very one sided relationship with me being the only one trying. Since my mom is a counselor and does everything for me, including giving me great dating advice, I decided it was time to move on from that pen. Thankfully I found a new calligraphy pen to share my heart with and its soo much better than any of my pervious girlfriends. Everything the way the pen looks, feels, and most importantly is not a pain in the ass when using it. I am actually starting to enjoy spending time relaxing and improving upon my ability. I planned on showing my calligraphy to Mrs. Sutter this week, but I decided I wanted to get through the Alphabet first. Which I will be completing next week. I understand now that my last weeks goal of writing the entire alphabet in a weeks work was defiantly reaching for the stars. But like in my last Ted Talk with Matthew McConaughey, I would rather have some kind of kind I can keep on chasing.

Next week I plan on finishing the entire alphabet practice sheets with ink calligraphy. Ill have Mrs. Sutter give me the hardcore blunt truth, then I from there I can determine what areas do I most need to improve on in order to progress to the best of my ability.  As always questions, comments, are always welcome.

Here is Calligraphy Rap Preview, and its at the bottom of the page.

Blog 2.1 The Steven Ray Adventures

Steven Ray Journal 1/24/19.

Today is a new day, and this week a new week. When I came to this amazing realization I decided it was time to show my class and the world my
amazing calligraphy skills.

(Second image is father away so you can't see all the mistakes close up)

This from the first time of me practing calligraphy. I came in with the expectation that I would be have the most beautiful handwriting in the world, unfortunately that didn't come true, but its probably just a universal balance thing since im already the most beautiful man alive. "Jokes" aside I was actaully kinda surprised how good I started out on my a's. I felt that the farther I got along practing the worse and worse I got. A have a couple theories on why this may be true. One I kinda lost focus a little bit as I was trying to make the letters and numbers. Second theory is that there was a time or two I had my pen turned the wrong way and that screws it up a bit when you start writing. Final theory is that it is a combination of the first two theories plus the fact that I very inexperienced. This is what I did this week and hopefully next week I can become just a little bit better.

For next week my goal is to finish the entire alphabet pratice worksheets. I also will give those sheets to Mrs. Sutter so she can grade me at my starting level, and from there I can get some feedback and hopefully apply it to this project. As a spoiler I also might drop a picture of some calligraphy rap lyrics, or maybe along with a beat which may or may not be included on my final goose goose mixtape. Just in case any of you had any confusion I am still working on my goose goose mixtape and already have a few songs pretty planned out and some beats already made for those songs.

As always if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions feel free to do so.

Steven Ray Blog 2.0 Second project

                                                                     Veni, vidi, vici

for the sake of the commonwealth."- Julis Ceasar

This blog is the start of something great. For too long my written words have been hidden and meaning lost due to my poor penmanship. Humanity deserves to know the truth behind the words I write and for the beauty of the letters to match the beauty of my words and their meaning. The only way for our society to progress to its greatest state is for its people to rise to the truest calling of their potential. All the great songs I've written, manifestos, world-changing ideas, and research I've done will be dust to the wind if no one can read what I'm writing. With this project, calligraphy, I plan to save the future of mankind by reinventing my handwriting to a level where it is actually readable and finally answer the call to reach my highest potential.

The start of this adventure began by me venturing through the school to Mrs. Sutter's classroom. She is a great art teacher and knowing the mysterious ways of the application of human creative skill and application in making works for beauty and or emotional power upon viewing them. I acquired from her the necessary practice work that will allow me to practice in the so-called application of human creative skills. She also bestowed upon me a calligraphy pen and some ink to start practicing writing with. I probably got over 50 sheets of different letters, alphabets, and styles of calligraphy, but I definitely will not dive as deep into this project as my last one as that was very time-consuming. I was hoping to start actually practicing writing this first week but I didn't have the necessary supplies to do so. Next blog post I plan on showing you guys what my current level is if you already don't know, start to practice on some of the practice sheets Mrs. Sutter gave me. I hope all you guys learned some important lessons from this last project and apply those lessons learned to this one.

P.S If you can't handle bad handwriting, especially the sight of it, then for this project you better look to other blog posts for enjoyment. Alex Mitchel would be a great substitute.

Week 7 blog

If you cant read just look at the pictures.

Howdy Y'all, It has sure been a mighty root tooting time this last week. Right now I am working on my final song, and will soon get started on the Ted Talk. Which I currently only have one idea about what to say thanks to Alex. My final song will probably sound like it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, not out of a lack of effort but more a lack of time to get it to a professional quality. I've decided to use the short clip I used last week, with some changed lyrics ive been working on and use that as my final song. I will be releasing it next week sometime. I'm not going to say a whole lot more about it, just as to keep it more a surprise.  Right now I am munching on some goose jerky thinking about what more I am going to say in this blog. Thankfully It inspired me to listen to some rap and it reopened my eyes. The Rap game needs to be saved and I need to be the one to save it. With my last song I am going to save the rap game, and with it the lives of the children who today live under the oppresive sound waves of mumble rap. Instead of rap about drugs, and money, it will be a rap about something that actually matters. I will pour out any and all heart, soul and creativeness I have in me into this last breath of this genius project. Its a noble cause apsire to be something greater, not for yourself, but for others.  Ill probably fall short from what I want the song to be and lose some of my self pride, but you cant be afraid to try to make that dream you have in your head a reality.

I regret that during this project that I became scared because I knew that the dreams of what I could create was not what the reality was going to be. The time I have spent wasn't as inspired as it could have been. Now my only hope of making something alright is to have that inspiration and put in the time required. I hope all you other guys can find inspirtation within the projects you guys are doing these last couple of weeks.
